IES: CRI defect or replaced by TM - 30

North America on September 30, illuminating engineering society (IES) issued a formal statement in response to the question about "IES method is standard".

IES that currently used in the evaluation of the lighting source Color Rendering international commission on illumination (CIE) of CRI (Color Rendering Index) flaws, cannot be fully expressed the human eye to Color perception.

IESTM30-15 (IES method of evaluation of lighting color rendering), is an important step in the solution to this problem, it create the value for the lighting industry in several ways:

A, faithful color, more accurate evaluation.

B, color preference complementary evaluation;

C, special color shows more details.

IES statement, just like other IES technical memorandum, TM - 30 to 15 is not a mandatory standard, not as a best practice design guidance or standards. However, TM - 30 to 15 release allows more careful to respect the international lighting group color quality standards and provides a path for improving standards. Technical analysis and evaluation feedback show that the method is described TM - 30 is of decisive significance.

IES confirmation on the new international consensus before the color quality evaluation standards, IES will not recognize any mandatory color display measurement method.

At the same time, the international commission on illumination (CIE) think, CRI on several important color sample evaluation is not accurate, should be improved testing samples and replaced more widely accepted rules. CIETC1-90 has been the improved evaluation method that can take the place of CRI's faithful.
